With the hack, they don't have the 30min limit (the g85 has no 30min limit). If i am on a tight budget, I'd get either one of these. I'd rather have another g85 or get the cheaper gx85 as a 2nd cam. It's added work and stress having to monitor the cams if the 30min is reached. To me, playing camera tag is too laborious. You don't have to wait 10 sec when stopping. Another is to have two cameras, one focused close and the other focused wide or medium wide and maybe even a few yards away start the ‘close’ camera wide and slowly zoom in to the close position and then start the ‘wide’ second camera and the watch the timer on the first cam and stop it at 20 to 25 minutes and wait like 10 count and start it again In a minute or so go to the wide camera and do the same as with the other Continue to do so till the program is over and this way you can multicame switch the cameras and/or picture in picture I’d you use the second camera to push in on screens images or video. 'Always in the process of changing, growing, and transforming.'ģ0 MIN LIMIT - Thanks for the response Yes the work around you mentioned definitely works. I think I got the idea from this post 5 months ago" Unfortunately the newer M series cameras aren't hackable by "Magic Lantern" and I doubt they ever will be. A lot of canon cameras have the "Magic Lantern" hack that allows this. Some cameras have hacks that allow for longer recording times. You can google "why cameras only record 30 minutes of video" to learn more. For some reason the EU decided 30 minutes recording time was the point at which cameras would be taxed at the higher rate of video recorders.įor some reason the camera makers decided to impose this restriction on ALL countries, not just the EU. The cameras imposed the artificial limit of 30 minutes to avoid EU taxes on "video recorders". Unfortunately that's not true of cameras. Sure smartphones do this, to minimize data loss if the phone locks up or powers down or something. mark the camera keeps recording but to another file, so maybe it won't be an issue for your use? limit is a per file limit so that at the 30 min. I'm not sure exactly how it works but I think the thirty min.
